RECOIL / TALK TALK – A SPECIAL DAY IN COPENHAGEN!

TWO RECOIL SCREENINGS + A TALK TALK EVENT

One exceptional day in Copenhagen for Recoil, Alan Wilder & Talk Talk fans will be upon us soon - Saturday November 10th. As well as 2 near sold out screenings of ’A STRANGE HOUR IN BUDAPEST’ at Empire Bio in the evening, A TALK TALK TALK : WITH ALAN WILDER will be happening in the afternoon at Copenhagen’s Main Library. Along with other elements to the afternoon, Alan will be giving a talk and holding a Q & A about the tribute album & book celebrating one of the most influential bands of all time.

‘Spirit Of Talk Talk’ is a lovingly put together dual project which came into the public domain during September this year. Alan Wilder acted as the musical & production supervisor for the double album which features over 30 different artists. Full details further down the page.

So what’s happening in brief…

During his talk and discussion at the library, Alan will explain his admiration for Talk Talk, how his involvement came about, and he hopes to be able to introduce one or two special guests who have appeared on the album. There is also a James Marsh-curated animated visual display planned, some live Talk Talk films, as well as copies of the ‘Spirit of Talk Talk’ book & album available for purchase.

Tickets for A Talk Talk Talk :  with ALAN WILDER can be purchased here : http://www.billetexpressen.dk/

Later in the evening, the party will move to Nørrebro, where 2 Recoil presentations of ’A STRANGE HOUR IN BUDAPEST‘ will be taking place at Empire Bio.

There are a few extra tickets just released by the cinema now available : http://var.ebillet.dk/

Alan will again be in attendance to host Q & A sessions about the ‘Selected Events’ tour and film project. There will be a Meet & Greet opportunity both before and after the screenings – and for sale at the cinemas, we have a very limited amount of deluxe tour editions of the Blu-ray up for grabs!  In addition they can all be individually signed by Alan.

After all the events at Empire Bio, we have now added yet another after-party at RUST (all details below) with no less than 3 different DJ’s from Denmark & Sweden, and with free admission as long as you show your Recoil cinema ticket.

Says Alan : “This day has just been developing over the last few weeks and the interest from fans of both projects has been overwhelming. Many Recoil fans seem to appreciate the Talk Talk legacy, and likewise, I have received some wonderful feedback from Talk Talk fans about my own involvement in the tribute album, as well as the Recoil contributions to that. All in all, this is the perfect crossover to make for an inspiring and exciting day in Copenhagen!”

So come along, help spread the word. We want to see you at the library AND at the screenings, finishing up at the after-parties with Alan and 400 Danes!

SPIRIT OF TALK TALK – CD :

The double tribute album celebrating the visionary band Talk Talk is out now on Fierce Panda. All proceeds from the release will be going to ‘The Rare Bird Club’ charity. Alan Wilder is the musical & production supervisor for the project which features 30 artists, including:  Recoil, White Lies, King Creosote, Jason Lytle (Grandaddy), Zero 7, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire), Joan As Police Woman, Sean Carey (Bon Iver), Lights, Goldheart Assembly, Thomas White (Electric Soft Parade), Fyfe Dangerfield (Guillemots), Thomas Feiner, The Black Ships, Turin Brakes, as well as Ian Curnow, David Rhodes, Gaynor Sadler and Martin Ditcham, all of whom worked with Talk Talk.

The CD package has been designed by Talk Talk’s graphic artist, James Marsh, using his cover created in 1983 for a prospective album ‘Chameleon Hour’ which was never released.

Says Alan : “I think we have ended up with a hugely impressive collection of heartfelt covers, submitted with genuine affection and respect for the Talk Talk legacy. For me this is a fitting tribute to a massively underrated group, made with few compromises over quality and commerciality. It is made out of love. All in all, given the parameters of any collection of more than 30 artists, I can safely say ‘Spirit Of Talk Talk’ is the best tribute album to any artist that I have ever heard and I am proud to have been a part of it.

SPIRIT OF TALK TALK – BOOK :

A richly illustrated, beautifully designed book celebrating the music and art of the legendary Talk Talk. Every copy has been individually signed by James Marsh who offers a fascinating insight into all his wonderful Talk Talk paintings, including inspiration and illustrated sketches.

Chris Roberts, one of the UK’s leading music journalists, traces Talk Talk’s history and evolution, reflecting on their unique journey from synth-pop to near-silence.

The book features stunning photographs by Richard Haughton, Sheila Rock, and many other leading rock photographers from ’81 – ‘91. Many of these shots have never been made public before and include vivid live images from the superb Montreux festival gig.

The book also features 100 written contributions from bands, label owners, DJs and creatives, all of whom share their appreciation and influences, inspired by the music and art of Talk Talk.
